How can I apply for a visa through the Australian High Commission?

The Australian High Commission that serves the UK is based in London at Australia House, Strand, London WC2B 4LA. While the Australian Embassy provides diplomatic and consular services to Australians in the UK and Ireland, the majority of visa applications do NOT require the individual to visit the Embassy in person.

The Australian Visa Bureau provides online applications for the Instant Australian Tourist Visa, the Australian Working Holiday Visa and Skilled Migration to Australia:

Travelling to Australia as a tourist?

Tourists to Australia can apply online for an instant tourist visa (also known as the Electronic Travel Authority or ETA visa), before starting the journey to Australia. All tourists need an Australian tourist visa, and ETA Visas are processed instantly and electronically linked to your passport.

ETA visas are processed instantly and linked electronically to your passport.

Through applying and paying for your ETA visa through the Australian Visa Bureau, your application will be managed through to completion by our Visa Processing Department.

Your details will be checked and confirmed as accurate by an experienced visa consultancy before your application is lodged to the Australian Government's processing system, to provide you with complete assurance that your visa will be approved without any issue.

The service also entitles you to access our 24 hour helpdesk to ensure that your tourist visa application is a seamless, simple process.

Working Holiday Visa

The Australian Working Holiday Visa gives young people between the ages of 18 and 30 the opportunity to work while travelling in Australia for a period of 12 to 24 months.

The Australian Government's RSMS is limited to certain areas of Australia. It allows employers to sponsor skilled migrants for job vacancies. The RSMS visa provides permanent residency.

Migration Branch of the Australian High Commission

The Migration Branch of the Australian High Commission is located in Australia House in London, and it acts as an overseas representative of the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).

The Migration Branch, however, does not provide any individual counselling or specific advice to potential migrants. For this reason the Australian High Commission advises potential migrants obtain help from a Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA) certified migration agent.
