China visa waiver for Europeans travelling to China through Hainan

Authorities have introduced a China visa waiver for Europeans travelling to China, if they go through Hainan.

The China visa waiver is only available for Europeans from 21 nations if they travel through the island of Hainan of the South China Sea.  The visa waiver will save travellers USD$45 and will save them having to get a stamp to enter Beijing or Shanghai.

According to The West Australian, the initiative was announced by Hainan's tourist representation at the International Tourism Board tourism trade fair in Berlin.

The Chinese border security also requires package holiday groups to travel in at least five people, and they must backtrack to Hainan to exit China.
