Australian Student Visas: Assessment Levels

Australian Student Visas are granted on the basis the student can meet certain levels of assessment based on:

• The passport held; and
• The visa subclass the student is applying for.

The assessment levels determine, in general, how likely a student will comply with the conditions of an Australian Student Visa.

Assessment level 1 represents the lowest assessment level and 5 the highest.

Where the higher the assessment level, the more evidence the student will have to provide on such things as English language and financial capacity.

If you have an assessment level of 2, 3, 4 or 5, then you have to apply for your visa while you are outside Australia.
