Student visa changes make it easier for Australian immigrants to work

Changes to the student visa regulations will make it easier for people engaging in Australian immigration to find work. The student visa grant has been altered so that people in education no longer have to apply for a separate work visa. It will mean that the student and any family members travelling with them will be able to work under the one visa. However, other rules like not being able to work until their course has started and only working 20 hours per week still apply.

The changes will apply to any people who applied for the student visa after April 26th, people who applied before this would need to apply for separate work permission. It is thought that the changes will make it cheaper and less time consuming for the applicants to gain working rights. Previously student visa holders had to pay an extra fee to apply for the working rights.

Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
