Tier 2 Intra-Company Transfer Category

The Intra-Company Transfer category is for people employed by multi-national companies who are being transferred to the UK to fill a skilled position at a UK branch or related organisation. The Intra-Company Transfer category is part of the Tier 2 work permit system, and replaces the old Intra-Company Transferee work permit.

To qualify for a Tier 2 Intra-Company Transfer permit, the following requirements must be met:

• The job must require a qualification of at least an S/NVQ Level 3.
• The compensation offered to the prospective migrant must be appropriate to the job and the local labour market.
• The employee must have been employed by an overseas branch of the organisation for at least 6 months immediately before transferring to the UK.
• The employer who wishes to employ the prospective migrant must have an Employer Sponsorship Licence.
• To employ intra-company transferees, the employer must provide evidence that the UK branch and the overseas branch of the company are linked by common control or ownership.

Successful applicants under the Tier 2 Intra-Company Transfer category will be issued a certificate of sponsorship by their employer.  Once this certificate is received, the applicant can apply for entry clearance to the UK from their home country.

Entry clearance is not guaranteed, even if a certificate of sponsorship has been issued.  All entry clearance applications for the UK are subject to health and security clearance.
