Working Holiday Program: Japan and Korea

Japan

The Government of Canada, through the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, will issue free of charge, an employment authorisation for a Working Holiday in Canada.

Applicants must meet each of the following requirements:

• Are Japanese citizens and are residing in Japan;
• Intend primarily to holiday in Canada for an extended period (maximum 1 year);
• Have not previously participated in the program;
• Are between 18 to 30 years of age at the time of the receipt of the application;
• Possess a valid passport and a return ticket or sufficient funds with which to purchase such a ticket;
• Possess sufficient funds for their maintenance, including medical expenses, during the period of initial stay in Canada;
• Are in good health and of good character; AND
• Do not have a pre-arranged job in Canada.

All of the places available for Japanese Working Holidays on a first come first served basis.

Korea

The basic requirements are as follows:

• Must be 18-25;
• No accompanying dependents;
• Must have return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase one;
• Medical examination required;
• Open to Korean nationals who are residents of Korea; AND
• Must intend to primarily holiday in Canada for a specific period.
