Working Holiday Visa for Canada: Australasia

Australia

Basic Requirements:

• Hold an Australian passport valid for the entire period of your intended stay in Canada and;
• Be aged 18-30 years inclusive at the time you apply. Your application must be stamped as received by the Canadian Consulate General in Sydney on or after your 18th birthday, or on or before your 31st birthday;
• Qualify for admission to Canada under the Canada's Immigration Act and Regulations;
• Not have previously been issued a Letter of Introduction for the WHP Canada (in any year), whether it has been used or not.
• Requirements for visa:
  • Current Australian passport valid to at least June 2006;
  • No criminal record;
  • Only entitled to one in a lifetime;
  • Must be between 18-30 (inclusive) years old;
  • If your application is successful you have 1 year to enter Canada and the visa is valid from 12 months from that date.

New Zealand

The Canadian High Commission in Wellington, New Zealand accepts applications for the NZWHP to Canada. The NZWHP is open November and December 2004 and the new quota is released in January 2005.

To be eligible for the NZWHP you must:

• Hold a New Zealand passport valid for the entire period of your intended stay in Canada. You should renew your passport before applying if it will expire before this date.
• Be aged 18-30 years inclusive at the time you apply. Your application must be stamped as received by the Canadian High Commission in Wellington on or after your 18th birthday or on or prior to your 31st birthday.
• Qualify for admission to Canada under the Canadian Immigration Act and Regulations. You must read the information provided in the 'admissibility' section before proceeding.
• Not have previously been issued a Letter of Introduction for the NZWHP, whether it has or has not been used.

You must meet all of these criteria before a Work Permit under the New Zealand Working Holiday Program Canada will be issued to you.
