British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program

British Columbia (known locally as BC) is a coastal province famous for its stunning natural beauty and vibrant coastal city, Vancouver. Outdoor activities are popular thanks to the region's great climate. British Columbia is one of the most popular provinces in Canada for migrants.

The Provincial Nominee Program allows provincial governments to choose immigrants according to the economic needs of the province. The Nominee program is not a visa lottery; it is a sponsored initiative by the provinces of Canada.

Each province:

• Establishes its own standards and processes by which it chooses its nominees; AND
• Tries to nominate those candidates who would be most likely to settle effectively into the economic and social life of the region.

The Provincial Nominee Program is not points tested.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is not run by specific skill shortage list. Instead, the Government has identified sectors such as Aerospace, Post-Secondary Education and IT as high priority.
