Oprah wraps up tour but Tourism Australia campaign continues

Oprah and over 300 of her American audience members have finished their incredible trip around Australia, and filming for the special Australian eposides on Oprah’s show has wrapped up.

Two of Oprah's episodes were filmed at the Sydney Opera House.

It has been a busy week for the Australian tourism industry, particularly as bringing The Oprah Winfrey Show to Australia was one of the biggest ever handled by Tourism Australia.

Oprah and her 302 guests came and visited every Australian State and Territory, some 25 destinations and were greeted by more than 150 tourism operators.

The trip has already generated in excess of $100millian in national exposure and in the tens of millions globally, and Tourism Australia predicts the best results are still to come as Ms Winfrey and her “four hour love fest about Australia” will beam into 145 countries in January.

Tourism Australia, as well as State and Territory partners and the commercial sector will now campaign off the back of the Oprah Winfrey Show to best capitalise on the global exposure and to encourage travellers to visit Australia.

All tourists to Australia, unless they have an Australian or New Zealand passport, must have an Australian Tourist Visa. The most popular of these is the ETA Visa, as it can be applied for online and it is almost instantly approved.

Australia should welcome its  six millionth international visitor to Australia for the first time ever at some point during December,  representing a five or six per cent increase over tourism figures last year.

In its 25th and final season, Oprah surprised her American studio audience earlier this year with a fully-paid 8-day trip to Australia as part of filming for her “Ultimate Australian Adventure” episodes.

Two episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show was filmed at the Sydney Opera House, and the third episode will feature her guests' travel experiences at some of Australia's top tourist destinations.
