Canadian government pushed on plans to make immigration easier

The Canadian opposition government has pushed the immigration minister to confirm plans to fast-track some visa applications. Diane Finely, the minister, has defended the plans to reduce the waiting time for some skilled visa applicants wanting to engage in Canadian immigration.

She added that it was the best way to fix the current flaws in the system. "The current system, if left unchanged, is on track to collapse under its own weight," Ms Finley stated.

The bill, if passed, will change the current legislation to mean that ministers can instruct certain kinds of applications to be prioritised. The government says this will help to ease the current backlog of applications.

John Winter, the president and chief executive officer of the BC Chamber of Commerce, said: "Our economy depends on immigration, and always has."

Despite hints from the government that doctors and other skilled workers will be given the preferential treatment, they have yet to provide a list of definite areas. Opposition MPs pushed Ms Finley to reveal these details.

Canada welcomes new immigrants: The Canadian Visa Bureau can assist skilled workers interested in Canadian immigration. More information on Canadian visas is available on the website. Anyone applying for a Canadian visa should begin by completing the online Canadian visa application to see if they meet the legislative requirements.
