Kenney announces reappointments to the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board

Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney has announced five reappointments and one designation to the Immigration and Refuge Board of Canada.

Minister Kenney has announced reappointments to the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board.

Formed in 1989, the Immigration and Refuge Board is an independent administrative tribunal with three divisions: the Refugee Protection Division, the Immigration Appeal Division and the Immigration Division. 

The board determines refugee protection claims made in Canada, hears Canadian immigration appeals, and conducts admissibility hearings and detention reviews, and reports to Parliament through the Minister.

The reappointments include Lyne Gauthier for a five-year term in the Montréal regional office, Kenneth D. Atkinson for a five-year term and Joanne Sajtos  for a four-year term, both in the Toronto regional office, and  Philip J. MacAulay was reappointed for a five-year term in the Vancouver regional office.

Lois D. Figg was reappointed for a two-year term in the Toronto regional office and was also designated Assistant Deputy Chairperson of the Refugee Protection Division for the Central Region.


The Canadian Visa Bureau is an independent consulting company specialising in helping people with their Canadian Visa applications to the Canadian High Commission.
