Backing given to Canadian immigration system change

The Canadian Employee Relocation Council (CERC) has backed the government's plans to modernise the Canadian immigration system. The organisation, which represents the interests and issues of workforce mobility, has supported the plans to speed up the immigration process for skilled workers entering Canada.

Stephen Cryne, Executive Vice President of CERC, said: "We are pleased to see government has taken the steps to modernise our immigration system. The proposed changes to cut waiting times for skilled immigrants are good for the economy and good for Canada's future prosperity." He added that the changes will improve the country's ability to compete in the global marketplace. According to government data, over 600,000 applicants are waiting to take advantage of Canadian immigration and the new changes will mean they do not have as long to wait. CERC was founded in October 1982 and has over 500 members in Canada, the United States and internationally.

Canada welcomes new immigrants: The Canadian Visa Bureau can assist skilled workers interested in Canadian immigration. More information on Canadian visas is available on the website. Anyone applying for a Canadian visa should begin by completing the online Canadian visa application to see if they meet the legislative requirements.
