Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO)

Visa Bureau is not affiliated with the Australian Government but is a website.
The current Skilled Occupation List (SOL) will be replaced mid-2010. The Skilled Occupation List (SOL) was updated in mid-2013. Please refer to the new Australian SOL for details of which occupations will be eligible under the updated General Skilled Migration program.

The Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) is a skills-based classification system used to classify all occupations and jobs in the Australian and New Zealand labour markets that will result in improved comparability of occupation statistics produced by the two countries.

ANZSCO provides a basis for the standardised collection, analysis and dissemination of occupation data for Australia and New Zealand. The use of ANZSCO has resulted in improved comparability of occupation statistics produced by the two countries.

It is the product of a development program undertaken jointly by a project team from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Statistics New Zealand (Statistics NZ) and the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations for use in the collection, publication and analysis of occupation statistics.

The ANZSCO system replaced the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO) as the tool used to define the occupations that feature on the Australian Skilled Occupation List in mid-2010.
