It should be noted that medical examination requirements exist for visitors, students and temporary foreign workers to Canada.

Medical Requirements for Visitors

The necessity of a medical examination prior to visiting Canada is determined by two factors:

• Duration of visit; AND
• Designated Country Territory List.

Duration

In general, if you are planning a visit to Canada of less than 6 months, you will not be required to undergo a medical examination.

If you are a tourist visiting Canada and your stay in the country is for more than 6 months, you will require a medical examination if:

• The applicant has resided or spent more than 6 or more consecutive months in a designated country/territory in the year immediately preceding their date of entry to Canada.

Designated Country Territory List

You will be required to undergo a medical examination if you have resided or spent time (6 or more consecutive months) in one or more of the designated countries/territories list.

If your country is designated as 'Yes', you will be required to have a medical examination by one of Canada's Designated Medical Practitioners.

Authorised Doctors

Your own doctor cannot do your medical examination for entry to Canada. You must see a physician on Canada's list of Designated Medical Practitioners.
