Investor Category: Points Test

Once you have met the requirements for the Investor Category - you must undergo the Business Points Test. The pass mark for all 3 classes of business immigrants is 35.

You are assessed against 5 selection factors:

For each selection factor, a specific number of selection points are allotted. The following tables will help you estimate how many points you would earn for each factor.

If you have a score lower than a total of 35 points, your application may be refused.

Factor One: Business Experience

Business experience must have been obtained within the period beginning 5 years before the date of application.

You have obtained 2 or more university educational credentials at the bachelor's level and completed at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies. 22
You have obtained a 3-year post-secondary educational credential and completed at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies. 22
You have obtained a 2-year educational credential at the bachelor's level and completed at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies. 20
For a 2-year diploma, trade certificate or apprenticeship and at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study. 20
For a 1-year university degree at the bachelor's level and at least 13 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study. 15
You have obtained a 1-year post-secondary educational credential and completed at least 13 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies. 15
You have obtained a 1-year post-secondary educational credential and completed at least 12 years of full-time of full-time equivalent studies. 12

Maximum number of points awarded here is 6.

If you wish to be assessed for adaptability points, it is necessary that your province of destination provide you with documentation indicating that it is satisfied that you have met one or both of the above elements.
