Invitation round review for October: Looking ahead to November

The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) have just released the results for the 18th October 2017 invitation round. 1250 invitations were issued for the Skilled-Independent (subclass 189) with the minimum point score remaining at 65.

The following graph shows the points for people who were invited to apply in this round:

November 18 Invitation Results

The highest ranked clients by points score are invited to apply for the relevant visa and if you have equal point scores, the time at which they submitted their EOI determines their order of invitation.

Those seeking to increase their points score and/or their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for a Skilled Independent 189 Visa, should look to obtain a superior score in an approved English Language Test. Doing so would allow you to claim 20 points for English Language proficiency.

Please note that some occupations are subject to pro rata arrangements (IT, Accountants and Engineering). Your Case Officer will advise you if your occupation is pro rata.

The DIBP have now released the dates for November's invitation rounds. One has taken place on the 9th of November and the other is due for the 22nd.

Please see below for the number of invites that are to be issued in these rounds:

9 November 2017
Visa subclass Maximum number
Skilled - Independent (subclass 189) 700
Skilled - Regional Provisional (subclass 489) 5

22 November 2017
Visa subclass Maximum number
Skilled - Independent (subclass 189) 700
Skilled - Regional Provisional (subclass 489) 5

With less invites being allocated for this month, it is highly likely that those on 60 and 65 points may not receive an invitation in the upcoming round on the 22nd. To keep up to date with the latest invitation round news you can visit the DIBP SkillSelect website.
