Lily Allen to boost Australia tourism

Lily Allen's eagerly anticipated guest slot on Neighbours will be used by Australia to promote tourism to the country.

The state of Victoria has retained a PR company  who plans to use her cameo to help boost the captial city's appeal.

The star's appearance is expected to be a huge attraction, and predicted  to bring more tourists into Melbourne, the state's capital.

The soap itself has massive pulling power, with many visitors from around the globe enjoying tours of the set and special theme nights where they can meet members of the cast.

Lily has already completed filming her scenes, in which she will be performing an acoustic version of 22 from her new album, It's Not Me, It's You, at Charlie's Bar.

Susan Bower, Neighbours' executive producer, said she "wasn't sure who was more eager, Lily or the cast."

Lily's scene will air in Australia in September, and in the UK in November.
