Australia Needs Skills expo in London highlights need for Australian immigration

This weekend the Australia Needs Skills expo hit London, attempting to tempt people with skills to Australian immigration. One of the main areas where recruiters wanted to find people for was IT due to the skills shortage in the sector in Australia. As many IT professions can be found on the Australia Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) skilled workers in this sector could receive additional points and a streamlined visa process.

Senator Chris Evans, minister for Immigration and Citizenship, said: "These expos link Australian employment specialists including state and territory governments, regional bodies and businesses with skilled workers." He added that employer-sponsored migration is a "high priority" in a skilled migration stream which has "economic benefits" for everyone in Australia. The Australia Needs Skills expos are run around the world and give people the chance to meet with Australian employers discuss Australian immigration. People considering Australian immigration can also check the Australia Skilled Occupations List (SOL) to see if their skills are needed in Australia.

Australia needs skilled workers: Anyone applying for an Australian visa should begin by completing the Australian Visa Bureau's online Australian visa application to see if they meet the Australian visa requirements.
