Queensland's island caretaker Ben Southall has the best job in the world, but it's all a little lonely with some mates.

Tourists can visit the places The Best Job in the World blogger Ben Southall does with an ETA visa.

Tourism Queensland has decided to extend its hugely successful Best Job in the World campaign to find the Englishman four mates to explore the Sunshine State.

It is hoped the new campaign will draw more tourists for an Australian holiday.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh announced one lucky person would be drawn at random next month and awarded an all-expenses-paid holiday to the Great Barrier Reef for the rest of the year.

"Six months just isn't enough time to sample everything so we're looking for some mates who can share in the experience with Ben," Ms Bligh said.

"The friends will report back to Ben about their experiences with photos, videos and via a guest blog."

She said anyone could enter and the winner could chose any three friends from all corners of the globe to join them.

"These four mates will have the holiday of a lifetime," she said.

"They won't get a salary, but gee they'll have a lot of fun.

"And we'll work them hard as well."

Mr Southall beat more than 34,000 applicants to land the coveted $150,000, six-month tenure as caretaker of Hamilton Island and now has around 150,000 followers on his blog.

To visit Australia for a holiday unless you have an Australian or New Zealand passport you will need to have an Australian tourist visa, also known as the ETA visa.
This Australian visa can be applied for online, and enables a person to visit Australia for up to three months on each arrival within the 12 months from the state the visa was granted.
