Prince Charles makes UK Visa gaffe at Glastonbury Festival

Prince Charles made a gaffe at the Glastonbury Festival yesterday when he asked an Australian if he was an illegal immigrant.

The prince made the UK Visa comment to Glastonbury worker Nick Wardle, 22, during a visit to the site of this weekend's music extravaganza in Somerset.

Wardle said to the prince: "Hello mate, I'm Nick from Australia. I'm working at the festival."

Prince Charles replied: "I would never have guessed. I hope you have a permit to work over here."

“Yes I do, mate,” the shocked Australian replied. He later said he thought the situation was funny, although for a second he thought the prince was going to lock him in the tower.

Prince Charles was invited to the Somerset site as president of the charity Wateraid, which the festival is supporting this year.
