UK Visa applications for Saudis will go online, the British Embassy has announced.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the top Gulf state in terms of the number of UK Visas issued each year: 100,000 visas were issued last year and around 20,000 of these were student visas.

Already this year 65,000 UK Visas have been issued and the British Embassy expects to match last year’s record breaking figure by the end of the year.

With such a high demand for UK Visas the online service will help speed up the process said Roderick Drummond, charge d’affaires at the British Embassy in Riyadh.

“But they will still have to visit the visa application centre for fulfilling the biometric procedure and other requirements, including photographs,” he said.

Saudi nationals can expect to get long-term multiple entry visas within 48 hours, while student applications will take five to 10 days for students.

Visa issuance has been centralised in Riyadh, with the application centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam assisting with the collection of biometric data and other information.
