Immigration New Zealand has announced that the full quota for Chile nationals under the New Zealand Working Holiday Visa scheme was filled within only hours of being opened.

The New Zealand Working Holiday Visa, allowing young people to live and work in New Zealand for a year, proved very popular with Chilean nationals.
The New Zealand Working Holiday Visa scheme for Chile nationals opened on 1 October, and attracted so much interest it caused an overload on the IT system.
Nevertheless, all 1000 places for the year to 30 September 2010 were filled within hours.
Immigration New Zealand apologised for the IT systems issues, and accepted that it can be very disappointing for Chilean applicants to miss out on a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa due to the overwhelming interest in the program that was greater than the number of places available.
