Surfing fans on a New Zealand gap year have prime position for a number of major international surfing events next year.
Up-and-coming talent will be on show at the World Junior Surfing Championships to be held at Piha Beach, Auckland, in January.
This event will be followed in April by the women’s leg of the Dream Tour, the largest ever surfing event to be held in New Zealand and one that is expected to draw a television audience of around 50 million viewers worldwide.
The Dream Tour will be held in Taranaki, on the North Island, from April 14 to 18.
The Taranaki leg of the women's Dream Tour will also be the finale for a week of surfing events as part of the Taranaki Women's Surf Festival.
