Canadian visa applications from generally considered safe countries could be fast-tracked.
The Canadian government is expected to fast-track people from counties that are generally deemed safe who make a visa application in a push by the Conservative party for reform.
The proposal will make the Canadian visa system more similar to the British and speed up the lengthy process of getting applications through Canadian immigration.
Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney would not comment on the details of what the reform would include, but he did describe the fast-track proposal.
He said the proposal was: "One dominant idea that has been proposed that I think is worth consideration. The reality is there's been, for good reason, a great deal of caution from successive governments about this issue."
If the reform passes Canadian visa applicants from countries that are generally deemed "safe" will be able to enter the county much more quickly, freeing up resources.
