Enbo Cui, the 21 year old son of a woman allegedly stabbed to death in a Toronto restaurant has been refused permission to travel from Australia to Canada to attend her funeral as Canadian immigration officials believe he may not return to Australia.

Canadian immigration authorities refused to grant a visa for the mourning son.

The funeral of Guang Lu, 45 has been delayed by other members of the family in the hope that Cui would be able to secure a Canada visa in time. However, the Canadian consulate in Sydney has twice refused applications for a visa, leading Cui to abandon his plans.

His Canada based lawyer Joel Sandaluk said "this is one of the coldest decisions I have seen in a long time. This young man only wanted to pay his last respects to his mother who was tragically killed. He only wanted to travel here for 10 days to say goodbye to his mom."

Cui, an accounting student, has "had enough" Sandaluk continued, "he has a lot going through his mind" and he has "taken the news really hard".

Guang Lo was stabbed on the 28th of December 2011, allegedly by co-worker Chi Kuan at the Chinese Traditional Bun restaurant in Toronto; she died in hospital on New Year's Eve.

Chi Kuan has been charged with second degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court on the 18th of January.
