Pilots needed through Canada immigration to solve looming shortage

Pilots are being encouraged to use Canada immigration to fly into the country, as a shortage in the profession looms. Industry members have warned that the emergence of the markets in Asia and the Middle East is resulting in Canadian pilots being recruited elsewhere, causing a shortfall in the country.

Captain Andy Wilson, president of the Air Canada Pilots association told Ontario Business News: "I don't know if it's the perfect storm. As the shortage builds, airlines will have to fight to retain pilots, because you need pilots to fly planes." Pilots are in shortage globally currently, with the world largest airline American Airlines forced to cancel more than 50 flights last month due to pilot shortages. Pilots considering Canada immigration can start the process by filling out a Canadian skilled visa assessment.

Pilot shortages are also hitting Australia. It was recently reported that airlines are employing younger pilots who have fewer flying hours in order to solve the crisis.

Canada welcomes new immigrants: The Canadian Visa Bureau can assist skilled workers interested in Canadian immigration. More information on Canadian visas is available on the website. Anyone applying for a Canadian visa should begin by completing the online Canadian visa application to see if they meet the legislative requirements.
