50,000 pending applications for Keralites to migrate to Canada

Every year, around 10,000 Keralites apply for Canadian migration visas, reports Thaindian News, and thanks to changes in the immigration laws, more visas for people from Kerala can now be approved.

According to the news source, there are more than 50,000 applications from people living in Kerala, India, who wish to migrate to Canada on a Canadian skilled working visa.

Now that the Canadian Government has implemented changes to the immigration system, all those who submitted applications between the dates of 01 September 2006 and 27 February 2008 can resubmit their applications for faster processing and no extra cost.

In related news, a report from Citizenship and Immigration Canada shows that more Canadian immigrants are choosing to move to smaller cities rather than the economic hubs of Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has said the shifting pattern in Canadian immigration is in part due to the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) which focuses on attracting immigrants to regional parts of the country.
