Novel way to sell house and emigrate to New Zealand

Keen to sell his house and emigrate to New Zealand as soon as possible, Essex businessman John Lincoln wanted maximum advertising power... all 900 sq feet of it.

Mr Lincoln put his house at Great Leighs, near Chelmsford, on the market last month forgoing traditional For Sale board for his own sign with the estate agent’s contact details painted across the 900 sq feet roof of an outbuilding.

The property – a bungalow and a large outbuilding that was formerly a plant nursery, on three acres – has been in the Lincoln family for more than 75 years.

Mr Lincoln told the Daily Telegraph that he painted it to generate more publicity for the sale.

“I painted it on there for a bit of fun. We do get several hot air balloons, light aircraft, micro lights and parachutists around here,” Mr Lincoln told the Daily Telegraph.

Mr Lincoln plans to emigrate to New Zealand when he sells the home, currently on the market for £250,000 through Hamilton Piers.
