Canadian construction jobs created by new government contract

Two major government contracts to build office towers in Gatineau, Quebec is expected to create 1000 new jobs in the region and help drive the economy.

New building projects will create 1000 Canadian construction jobs.

The projects are part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan to use the construction of public infrastructure to create Canadian construction jobs, as well as simulate businesses.

Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, and the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Natural Resources made the announcement.

“Creating and protecting jobs and stimulating the Canadian economy is the top priority of this government,” said Minister Ambrose.

“The construction of these buildings will create numerous employment and economic benefits for local workers, suppliers and services; as well as provide long-term stimulus to the economy.”

Canada’s Economic Action Plan is part of a program to deliver a CA$62 billion stimulus to the economy including the reduction of taxes, commencing thousands of infrastructure projects across the country, providing significant support for science and technology, industries and communities and improving access to financing.
