Thousands of Brits attend New Zealand immigration event

This weekend thousands of British people attended the Opportunities New Zealand Expo in London, in order to find out more about New Zealand immigration. More than 30 companies from the country were present at the expo and were offering hundreds of jobs.

Scott Mathieson, director and co-founder of Expo organisers Working In, said: "Demand for migrants to fill skills shortages has increased so much that we've got four, two-day recruitment expos in the UK this year - in Leeds as well as London." Jon Leadbeater, a manager at one of the companies present said his company was looking for engineering professionals with "solid engineering backgrounds". Skills shortages mean that companies are increasingly looking to New Zealand immigration in order to fill jobs. Some of the other sectors which were represented at the expo were the construction, healthcare, education, trades and mining industries The next New Zealand Expo is planned for this weekend, in Leeds, with another London-based Expo scheduled for October. However, hopeful migrants in the UK wanting an immediate breakdown of their migration chances should take the online New Zealand visa assessment.

New Zealand needs skilled migrants: Anyone applying for a New Zealand visa should begin by taking the New Zealand Visa Bureau's online New Zealand visa assessment to see if they meet the basic legislative requirements.
