These 13 organisations will support American citizenship preparation programs for those who emigrate to the US, Mr Mayorkas said.

The announcement was made on on Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, established by Congress in 2004 to mark the anniversary of the ratification of the US Constitution.

“In the spirit of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, I am pleased to announce that we will be working with these organisations to help immigrants pursue citizenship and become fully vested members of their communities,” said Mr Mayorkas.

Those emigrating to the US will be able to access programs funded by the migrant grant program to assist with English language skills, and gain knowledge of US civics including history and government.
