UK visa woe for cricketers

The players were refused a UK visa and were unable to enter the UK for The Lawyers Cricket World Cup, the tournament organisers told the BBC.

Luckily, English barristers intervened to fix the UK visa problem and the Pakistan team were able to join the competition now under way in Cambridge.

"The Pakistan team found that they were being refused visas," said a spokesman for the organising committee.

"With a great deal of help from the Bar Council this problem has been overcome and we shall welcome the Pakistanis who seem to face more problems than the rest of us."

Twelve teams - featuring a number of judges - from around the world will take part in the competition, which raises money for charity.
