Tigerair launches Sydney to Perth service

Tigerair Australia has emerged from its financial issues with a much-widened network, adding five new routes departing from Melbourne and Sydney this year alone. The low-cost carrier is a popular choice among Australians and tourists alike but has not offered a cross country service until now.

Carly Bear, commercial director of Tigerair Australia, said the service, which will operate as often as six times per week, was a frequent request from travellers on both coasts, eager to get across the country fast and cheaply.

"We're regularly asked by the travelling public in [Western Australia] to provide more services," said Ms Bear.

"This is great news for leeisure seekers on a budget and will provide a welcome boost for tourism in Western Australia and New South Wales."
