Thousands of Indian migrants celebrate legal victory over UK Home Office

As a result of recent changes to the UK highly skilled migrant programme (HSMP), migrants who were working towards permanent residency after four years in the UK are now having to wait another year.  Amit Kapadia, head of the Highly Skilled Migrants Forum (HSMF) said the delay of twelve months has caused great distress among the growing community of Indians and their families who have migrated to the UK.

Deputy high court judge Stuart Isaacs said the Forum has a strong case and denied attempts by the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith to delay the proceedings.

A full hearing against the retrospective changes is due to take place soon, although a date has not yet been confirmed.
