Roll out of identity card for UK Tier 2 workers in January

- Posted in United Kingdom by Visa Bureauon 11 December 2009

The UK Immigration regulation, approved recently by Parliament, requires all Tier 2 applications made inside the UK on or after 6 January 2010 to include the enrolment of the applicant's fingerprint and photograph.

The requirement for Tier 2  renewals to supply biometric information is part of a large roll out of idenity cards for foreign nationals.

Migrants in a number of other UK Visa categories are already required to enrol their biometrics and obtain an identity card when they apply to extend their stay in the UK.

There are a number of ways an applicant can supply their biometric information including at one of  11 Home Office biometric enrolment centres around the UK or  postal applicants can now choose to enrol their biometrics at a limited number of Crown post offices nationwide, although as this is a trial service it is currently available only to applicants who have been sent an invitation to use it.
