Parliament set for New Zealand Immigration Bill

Clayton Cosgrove, New Zealand Immigration Minister, said the new law will make the system more efficient and simplify the country's complex legislation surrounding the area. He also claimed the bill would give New Zealand an immigration system which will be tailored to the modern environment.

"It provides the right balance between allowing us to choose the migrants we want and need, and protecting our national interest and our borders," the minister told the news provider. Mr Cosgrove also said the new legislation would allow New Zealand to fulfil its international obligations regarding immigration.

Last month, reported the country's tourist firms are working to increase the number of people applying for New Zealand working holiday visa. The companies are being advised by the New Zealand Tourism Strategy 2015 guides on ways to attract people to the country.

New Zealand needs skilled migrants: Anyone applying for a New Zealand visa should begin by taking the New Zealand Visa Bureau's online New Zealand visa assessment to see if they meet the basic legislative requirements.
