New Zealanders welcome the important contribution of New Zealand immigration

At-work internships for skilled migrants to help them adjust to working in New Zealand were supported by 66 per cent of respondents.

Eight out of ten people surveyed believe that New Zealand immigration adds to the social diversity of New Zealand and improves the way of life of the whole country. Many people think New Zealand immigration has a positive effect on their own communities.

New Zealanders still want skilled migrants should have good English language skills and 70 per cent support the language standards imposed by the New Zealand immigration system.

The ShapeNZ national survey was undertaken by the New Zealand Business Council and will be presented at the annual Business Budget Summit between business leaders and government to be held this week.
