New study shows gappers keen for mum and dad to come on a working holiday

The survey, by the online reality series The Gap Year: Challenge New Zealand where five contestants take part in the adventure activities most on a New Zealand working holiday do, also found that 400 students wanting to bring their childhood teddy with them.

The survey found 750 students said they would prefer the comfort and stability of their parents coming on the trip with them on an Australian or New Zealand working holiday, or a trip to Africa or South America.

The most popular reason for taking a year out, cited by 25 per cent of the students, was 'exploring wildlife', closely followed by 'taking part in cultural activities' with  23 per cent.
