The pilgrims were granted one-month New Zealand visitor visas, but were under the impression they were sold permanent residence visas in India, reports the Earth times.

The Immigration Department have discussed the situation with the pilgrims, reminding them that their visas are still valid now but only have a few weeks until they must leave the country.

Statistics New Zealand released figures this week showing New Zealand’s net migration is positive; 4,700 more people chose to move to New Zealand for the year to June, reports the Dominion Post.

Employers and Manufacturers Association (Central) Chief Executive Paul Winter said the New Zealand Government is successfully meeting the needs of the labour market by recruiting overseas workers on skilled migrant visas for New Zealand.
