IT skills shortage could lead to UK immigration increase

Karen Price, chief executive officer of e-skills UK, said: "The forecasts for continued industry growth uncovered by our research are very encouraging. But beneath these forecasts lies a complex picture of restructuring and skills shift." The research also revealed that just 19 per cent of new recruits coming into the sector are from an education background. This could suggest that the industry needs to look overseas and to UK immigration to plug the gaps.

E-skills UK is a not-for-profit organisation which attempts to ensure that the UK has the skills required to compete in the global economy.
