India: overseas students now overstaying vagrants

Some students are obtaining Indian citizenship by illegal means so they can live and work in India without restrictions and take advantage of the wealth of employment opportunities.

The IB has asked all football clubs for the details of all their student foreign football players as a way to track down overstayers.  "We have also cautioned these clubs to categorically check the credentials of these foreign students, especially their visa limits, before enrolling them," a senior official told the news provider.

The IB is also checking guest accommodations which temporarily house foreign students, and is conducting checks on foreign patients in hospitals.
