Important changes to UK visa and IRIS accounts

- Posted in United Kingdom by Visa Bureauon 13 May 2009

Because of the new UK visa programmes instituted by the Home Office to these five countries, the iris recognition immigration system (IRIS) will need passport holders to re-enrol if they wish to use this service.

As of Monday 18th May 2009, all South African nationals who are holders of a UK business visa or are a visitor status on IRIS, and all Bolivian and Venezuelan nationals will need to re-enrol with IRIS if they wish to continue using the new technology.  Re-enrolments cannot be made prior to the 18th May.

As of Wednesday 1st July 2009, all South African, Swaziland and Lesotho nationals will also need to re-enrol for IRIS if need be at one of the designated IRIS enrolment rooms on or after this date, or else present themselves at an immigration officer at the Border.

If these conditions apply to you, you will need to take your passport, valid UK visa, and boarding card to the IRIS enrolment rooms.  Venezuelan holders of biometric passports will not need a valid UK visa to enter Britain, and will therefore only need a valid biometric passport and boarding card to re-enrol at the IRIS centre.
