Free New Zealand working holiday for a blogger

The Christchurch travel company Entirely Kiwi is offering a free three month “trip of a lifetime” to someone willing to promote New Zealand by blogging about their experiences.

Entirely Kiwi offers reservation services for accommodation, car hire and sightseeing activities within New Zealand, and needs someone to travel all over New Zealand to meet new clients.

"We're a relatively new company ... and as you can imagine we've had we've had quite a few suppliers jump on board in a relatively short period of time," Entirely Kiwi director Vanessa Forsyth said.

"We had the option of either taking time out of what we're doing now and going and travelling and meeting everybody ourselves, or offering this opportunity to somebody who would really enjoy it and have a lot of fun with it."

The winning candidate will receive free accommodation, transport, a daily food allowance and some spending money in return for blogging about their experiences in New Zealand.

"But there's no set wage as such," Forsyth added. "It's just a free trip."

The position is similar to the “best job in the world” competition run by Tourism Queensland earlier this year, which attracted huge amount of international attention, although Forsyth denied that the Queensland competition was the inspiration for the Entirely Kiwi offer.

Like the Tourism Queensland competition however, applicants are required to send videos detailing why they are the best candidate.

The competition is open to people from all over the world, subject to the applicant being eligible for a New Zealand working holiday visa.

Young British backpackers aged between 18 and 30 can apply for a New Zealand working holiday visa, which will allow them to work and holiday in New Zealand for up to 12 months in any given job.  British nationals also have the opportunity of extending this visa for another eleven months.

Forsyth says the winner will need to have a sense of humour, a love of travelling and excellent communication skills.

Applications close on August 31 and ten finalists will be selected to participate in interviews before the winner is announced.
