Cameron Phelps applies for UK Visa to join Hull FC

The move is subject to the Australian being granted a  UK Visa.

Phelps, 25, was released by Engage Super League champions Wigan in November having played with them for almost three years. Prior to joining the Warriors in May 2008, Phelps played for the Canterbury Bulldogs in Australia.

"I think Hull are a good club and they have a lot of potential. They have a good young roster, with a mix of youth and experience and have a chance of winning some silverware," Phelps said on the club website.

Phelps is currently in Australia having been released by the Warriors at the end of last year and will not feature in the season-opening derby against Hull KR in Cardiff this weekend.

The 25-year-old will travel to Canberra this week to the British High Commission in an effort to help speed up the visa process.

The news comes only a few days after Hull FC sacked Jordan Tansey, and Phelps is now expected to be handed the number one shirt.
