Calls to address US IT skills shortage

US companies have increasingly outsourced their IT functions such as network support and management over the past few years but with costs rising, more of these functions are being brought back onshore.

Offshore resourcing costs are rapidly increasing and a number of the major outsourcers are now basing IT service centres in the US. Another factor driving up demand for IT workers is the growing necessity to invest in enterprise network security.

Now US firms are moving back an internal IT staff model and need staff with strong network skills. The Enterprise Networks magazine reports that companies are now competing for a smaller group of skilled workers. IT people with network skills are now at premium in the US market.

America needs skilled IT workers: Anyone applying for an American visa should begin by taking the American Visa Bureau's online American visa application to see if they meet the basic legislative requirements.
