Mr van Asch said the road to success for bungy jumping in New Zealand had been easy, especially choosing Queenstown as their site as "it was the Mecca for tourism".

"Now it’s great to be in the position of being 20 years down the track, being able to look back and know that so many people have had a great time and this challenge has changed their lives," he told reporters.

"When I stand out there with AJ I know we are still both as passionate about it as we were then.  It has been a fantastic ride and we’re both really happy to have done something that’s been fulfilling for all our jumpers and crew from all around the world, for Queenstown, and for tourism," he added.

The adventure capital of the world, Queenstown, has long been popular with international holidaymakers, particularly the tens of thousands of young travellers on New Zealand working holiday visas.  Queenstown is renowned for being an all-season destination providing the best of New Zealand in one location: iconic scenery, quintessential local Kiwis, food and wine, and most importantly an endless supply of adrenalin-pumping adventure.
