Province of Alberta launches a new Canadian immigration portal
A new web portal has been launched by the Alberta government as part of a campaign to encourage more people to apply for a Canadian visa. The site is called Immigrate to Alberta and has received funding from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
The purpose of the portal is to promote Alberta as a place to live and work for Canadian immigrants. It provides information on employment, housing, health care, transport and education in the province.
"We want newcomers to choose Alberta and we want to make it easier for them to navigate the immigration process," said the province's minister of employment, immigration and industry Iris Evans at the launch.
The website will be user focused and aims to provide as much information as possible to potential Canadian immigrants by giving them an idea of what to expect when they get to Canada.
Alberta wants up to 25,000 people to immigrate to the province every year, according to Terry Jorden, a ministry spokesperson.
Canada needs skilled immigrants: The Canadian Visa Bureau can assist skilled workers interested in Canadian immigration. Anyone applying for a Canadian visa should begin by completing the online Canadian visa application to see if they meet the legislative requirements.
