Wood Machinist - If your profession is Wood Machinist in accordance with the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) 394213 then you are currently in demand by employers in Australia.

Wood Machinist is NOT currently on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).

It is not possible to apply for an Australian visa under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program.

If you are aged under 31 (or 35 in some instances) it is likely you are eligible for a Working Holiday Visa to Australia which will allow you to live and work in Australia for up to two years.

  • operating machines to cut, plane, turn, shape and sand work pieces
  • removing old finishes by stripping with steel wool and glasspaper, and by applying solvents and paint strippers, and removing softened finishes by scraping
  • applying varnish, shellac, lacquer, stains and paint to surfaces and polishing and waxing finished surfaces
  • fitting and fastening frame pieces
  • mounting backing materials and subjects for framing
