Veterinary Nurse - If your profession is Veterinary Nurse in accordance with the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) 361311 then you are currently in demand by employers in Australia.

Veterinary Nurse is NOT currently on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).

It is not possible to apply for an Australian visa under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program.

If you are aged under 31 (or 35 in some instances) it is likely you are eligible for a Working Holiday Visa to Australia which will allow you to live and work in Australia for up to two years.

  • placing animals in cages for recovery from operations and monitoring their condition
  • giving medications to animals
  • maintaining stock control and records
  • providing animal care advice, and preparing, delivering, and reviewing animal care education programs
  • may perform diagnostic laboratory tests
  • may act as receptionist, accept payments and undertake clerical work
