Russia's migration service lends a helping hand to American boss

Amidst attempts by Russian billionaires to depose Robert Dudley from head of Russian oil company TNK-BP, migration services have warned if he does not renew his company contract he will no longer be able to stay in the country, reports Reuters.

Four Russian billionaire shareholders accused Mr Dudley of an unfair bias towards BP, and have been searching for clauses to get him sacked.  The American has been warned by the Russian immigration department that his visa will only be renewed if he has a valid working contract.

Mr Dudley is optimistic about his chances of staying in the country, saying the Russian migration service have been "very cooperative" with his case and are trying their best to help him.  His visa has already been extended by ten days so the American businessman can resolve the situation within his company.

All travellers to Russia need a Russian visa to enter the country and an invitation to visit the country from either the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a Ministry-approved travel agency or organisation.  Temporary visitors can either apply for a Russian Tourist Visa, Russian Private Visa, or Russian Business Visa.

The Worldwide Visa Bureau is an independent consulting company specialising in Russian visas and immigration services.
